37th Annual Snake Hunt in Cross Fork, PA
It's been a while since I've had a chance to post.
This weekend is the 37th Annual Snake Hunt and it is sponsored by the Kettle Creek Hose Co. #1 of which I am a member. That, along with shuttling our rental canoes and kayaks down to the lake at Kettle Creek State Park, I'm not sure anymore which end is up.
So we've got a lot going on in Potter County this weekend. Be sure to check the Snake Hunt site link for the daily schedule. And if you need accommodations, give us a call at Kettle Creek Adventures, to check availability.

Pine Creek Stream Report

Right near Slate Run, Pine Creek was a chocolaty muddy brown. Heading south, they found a beautiful spot just downstream of Jersey Mills and started fishing there.
But whatever turned Pine Creek muddy upstream finally worked its way down. After about 20 minutes, the water level began to rise and turn muddy. And it was still that way 2 days later when they went back to check it out.
Instead, they came back to fish our wonderful Kettle Creek where, as usual, they were successful catching rainbows and browns.

Fly-Fishing Report Kettle Creek For June 13
Current guests, a couple from Rochester, New York, headed out to Kettle Creek around 6:30 PM. They were going back to one of my favorite fishing spots.
Using a rust colored, black haired, size 18 comparedun, they were very successful catching those beautiful brown and rainbow trout.

What is the evening hatch on Kettle Creek?
I was on Kettle Creek last night (see previous post) and I scooped up some water and the fly was the mahogany spinner, rusty in color, with light gray wings. They were about an 18 or a 20.
Unfortunately, I didn't have anything like that with me. I stopped today to pick up some new flys and will be back on the stream later tonight.

Are there bears in Pennsylvania?
I had to start this blog someway so I figured a good starting post would be about an exciting experience I had last night.
Are there bears in PA? There sure are. We have black bears in our area around Cross Fork.
Last night, while fly-fishing the evening hatch on Kettle Creek, a bear came stream side about 125 yards downstream from where I was fishing. I kept my eyes on it as it crossed the stream and made its way in the opposite direction from where I was.
I sure was glad to see it turn in that direction. Otherwise, I can assure you, it would have been a short evening hooking those trout.
